About Neuro Linguistic Programming Coaching

NLP Coaching is a modern and rapidly growing method for helping others to improve, develop, learn new skills, find personal success, achieve aims and manage life change and personal challenges. Life coaching, or personal coaching – different terms are used – is effective for all situations, whether in personal life, career, sales or corporate and business life.

Life coaching, personal coaching and similar coaching of this type is different to training. Coaching draws out rather than puts in. It develops rather than imposes. It reflects rather than directs. Coaching is is reactive, flexible and enabling, not prescriptive or instructional. Coaching is non-judgemental, not judgemental.

Coaching helps people to develop and grow in a variety of areas, and this is leading to the development of separate coaching specialisms that are becoming new coaching disciplines in their own right, covering: personal coaching and life coaching, coaching for life-change, parenting; self-fulfillment and self-discovery; career coaching for advancement and job choices; leadership and management coaching; coaching for sales and business success; executive coaching for corporate performance and director development.

Coaching is about getting the very best out of someone and enabling them to make decisions that will improve their life. Coaches are hired for very many different and diverse reasons, for example: to climb the career ladder faster; to feel more fulfilled at work; to improve relationships with family and partners; to learn parenting skills that benefit both the child and parent; to gain a spiritual meaning to life, or a desire to ‘get sorted’.

Also, when a person experiences being coached, their motivation comes from working with a coach who is him/herself an upbeat, positive role model. In this way coaching is a unique way of developing people. Coaches agree that helping clients to reach their full potential through this approach produces great satisfaction.

NLP was developed in the mid-70s by John Grinder a Professor at the UC Santa Cruz and Richard Bandler a Graduate student.  NLP as most people use the term today, is a set of models of how communication influences and is impacted by subjective experience.

It is more a collection of a number of models and then techniques based an those models. The major models associated with NLP are:

  • Sensory acuity and physiology: Thinking is tied closely to physiology. A person’s thought procedure changes their physiological state.  Sufficiently sensitive sensory acuity will help communicators fine tune their communication to a person in ways over and above mere linguistics.
  • The Meta Model:
A set of Linguistic challenges for uncovering ‘deep structure’ underneath someone’s ’surface structure’ EG ‘what are they really trying to say?
  • Representational systems: NLP practitioners believe that individuals communicate in a systemic way that utilizes the senses, Auditory, Visually and Kinesthetically.  We also use taste and smell although these are not used as much as the main three.

NLP has several techniques for making sense and intervening in certain situations.  There is the fast phobia cure which can tackle phobias in less than one hour.  Ways to identify and integrate conflicting belief systems that keep you from doing the things that you are capable of achieving.

But the most exciting aspect of NLP Coaching may be that it is solution-focussed. Rather than spend our precious time thinking about problems of the past or why things went wrong, we focus on making things right. We focus on getting you the results you need.

And so the results from NLP coaching are almost instantaneous. Hundreds of our clients have experienced the bliss of instant self improvement.
